Missions

The Ireland England province has historically had close contact with missionary projects involving personnel from the province or projects which have had involvement with either Irish or English Sacred Hearts in the past. For this reason, the province maintains close relationship with Mozambique, The Congo, The Philippines, Peru and Jamaica.

SruleenIn November 2009 Damien Mission Group was developed in Sruleen Parish in Clondalkin with a view to creating even stronger links with Sacred Hearts overseas Missions in parishes in these countries. The group raised over €3500 for an Educational project for Mozambique during 2010 and recently contributed €1000 to Japan's earthquake appeal. missions1DECEMBER 2014:    Thanks to your wonderful and generous contributions we have been able to support missionary projects far and near. Last month we arranged the transfer of €30,000 to Mozambique to help with missionary projects in the areas where we are working.

In August we were able to support a UK project run by the Outward Bound Trust for children with ‘special needs. Just recently we have given the second of 3x £5,000 payments to Acton Homeless Concern London). We had promised last year to support this worthy project for London’s poor and homeless to the tune of £15,000 spread over three years.

Homelessness is also to be found in Ireland. In Dublin the number of homeless people this year has increased by 21%. The rise in homelessness is happening in other cities as well. Thanks to your continued support we are able to give €10,000 to the charity Focus Ireland.

We are also concerned about Ebola and the impact of this viral disease on so many poor people in East Africa. Because of this we have decided to donate €10,000 to help in Sierra Leone and Liberia.  Once again, without your help it would be impossible to do what we do! Many thanks to you all.

Gen 1 minApril 2018 - Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

Earlier this year, thanks to the generosity of our SSCC benefactors, our supporters of the missions and indeed many of you reading this message, we were able to purchase a new generator for one of our mission centers in the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. (almost €11,000) Fr. Franck sscc the Director and native of the Congo, has sent me a photo of the arrival of the generator. It is a very big mission and so many activities would be extremely limited without access to the power from the generator. Fr. Franck, sscc, wants to say a sincere "thank you" to all of you for your prayers and support.

In order for any religious order to engage in ministry it is necessry that the Order be supported financially.  Perhaps you would consider supporting the work and ministries of the Ireland/England Province of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts by remembering our work in your will.  Thank you.
